I run a selection of workshops throughout the year - generally on Sat mornings (apart from late DEC+JAN).   I can however schedule other times if you have a group of 4-6 interested.  Just contact me (info@bizhs.co.nz) to arrange.
The one thing in common with all my workshops is small group numbers, learning in a fun and hands on environment, and coming away with a mind awash with ideas, backed by knowledge.  You have a choice of 3 TYPES of workshops - some are seasonal, and some run year-round.

I look forward to you joining me soon.

Workshops marked ‘CREATE’ are where  you will have hands on fun working on a fabulous take home project such as a metal/wood tray (using paint & stencils and perhaps a transfer); or a pair of terracotta pots that you will create your own French look clay moulds for and then paint & decorate

TECHNICAL workshops marked ‘101’ are all about learning a new technique in depth – generally with a range of mediums. It’s all about the tips and tricks and practicing these new techniques –– and taking the art from basic to new heights.

The INTRODUCTORY workshops are short 1-hour sessions to either learn about upcycling products, or see a technique demonstrated.  This is a great chance to ask questions.

Getting Started 101’ is by far my most popular workshop – and is aimed at either beginners, or people who have done a few projects and want to learn more.  This workshop takes you through what to look for when you buy a piece, how to prep (and what products to use), sanding & priming through to paints (chalk, mineral, clay & enamel) available to NZ upcycler’s – you will get to have a play with about 15 different brands so you can get a feel for their differences and we finish up with different painting techniques and finishing products (varnish, hemp oil & wax).  This is a full 3 hours of hands-on learning backed by a professional 50 page take home workbook.

"I realy love attending your classes Karen.  Great time getting to experience the variety in products AND create.  You really put your heart & soul into providing a learning space with fun.  Thanks for opening up your home and sharing your knowledge" Jo

"I really enjoyed the day - you are a great teacher, and my family were most impressed by my work" Nicky

"I attended one of Karen’s beginner classes.  It was a fabulous morning; Karen is full of knowledge and doesn’t hesitate to share what she knows. If you want a fun couple of hours spent with like-minded people go to one of her classes, you won’t regret it." Cindy,

"Karen has a wonderful way of explaining things to you - very informative & great material to take away with you. Really enjoyed it & learnt lots - highly recommend her classes." Annette
